We all face the age-old question of how to balance work and life. It's a universal struggle that I've experienced, and I'm sure many of you have too. One expression that has profoundly influenced me is this:
"You can't take care of anybody else until you take care of yourself."
Somehow, we've been conditioned to believe that self-sacrifice is a virtue, that we're not doing the right thing unless we're sacrificing ourselves in some way. But this mindset is exactly what disrupts our work-life balance. We can't be the best versions of ourselves when we're not in balance.
Remember, what we can achieve in a 10-hour workday, we can also achieve in a seven-hour workday. It's about understanding that we don't get any extra points for sacrificing ourselves. At the end of the day, no one is keeping score on how much we sacrifice.
So, keep this mantra in mind: "You can't take care of anybody else until you take care of yourself." Embrace this to help you settle into a more balanced, aware state. Have a great week!
