Can we truly change our habits—and our outcomes—by changing our thoughts? The answer is yes. Thanks to neuroplasticity, your brain has the remarkable ability to rewire itself based on how and what you think.
The average person has roughly 60,000 thoughts a day, and research indicates that around 90% of these thoughts are the same as those from the day before. Think about that: day after day, we’re repeating the same internal dialogue, reinforcing the same outcomes. Those repeated thoughts form neural pathways—actual physical connections in the brain that grow stronger each time we return to a familiar thought.
This means our brains are constantly being shaped by what we think, not just what we do. That’s the power of neuroplasticity. It’s the science behind how we can create new habits, shift our mindset, and move toward better outcomes.
You don’t have to be aware of all 60,000 thoughts. But you can be aware of the ones that matter—the ones that shape how you show up in your day, your decisions, and your future.
When a thought arises that doesn’t serve the outcome you want, call it out. Say to yourself, “I am erasing that thought and replacing it with one that aligns with where I want to go.” By consciously choosing different thoughts, you dissolve old pathways and create new ones. That’s how rewiring the brain works in real time.
When you learn to redirect your thinking, you're not just making a small adjustment. You’re changing your future. That’s what I love most about neuroplasticity—it offers us a form of time travel. Each new thought can lead to a different action. Each new action can lead to a different life.
And it all begins with one decision: to think differently.
